File Info
•
Even if you have
recorded
your project on a 16 bit system, still save your stereo mixes and
Separations at 24 bit.
•
Keep peak audio levels around -3dBFS (those pesky clipping lights
should never light up!).
•
Be
sure you include all tracks (when combined) in your Separations,
and they all start at exactly the same time
•
Identify a few things in the file name:
Song title (or partial title to keep it short)
Date or version
Separation type
Your (short) Song Title_V1_Mix.wav
Your (short) Song Title_V1_Drums.wav
Your (short) Song Title_V1_Bass.wav
Your (short) Song Title_V1_Instr.wav
Your (short) Song Title_V1_Voc.wav

Do not use .zip
files - they sound awful!
•
Do not use DVD+R's
to transfer files. Aways use a DVD-R, CDR, Flash
drive, hard drive, FTP, etc.
•
When converting to MP3's, do not use iTunes or other fast-conversion
program. It saps the good sound out of your files. Use the MP3
conversion in Pro Tools - it's a real-time process that sounds much
better. The larger the file the better. 320's sound better
than 256's which sound better than 192, etc.
